BRINGING COUNTRY BACK
..The debut album "Whatcha You Live For" by rising Country singer/songwriter Luke Smith is steadily earning 'the kid' even more of a fan base. Smith, winner of the Best in the Upstate, believes there's something missing in new country music of today. Not knocking on anybody, he believes people enjoy the sounds and references of traditional country music, the way the forefather's of country music intended it to be, that fits today.
For those familiar with the #2-Country song of the decade, "19 Something" by Country Superstar Mark Wills, then you know it is the epitome of the simple ways of living during our youth and changes as we grow older. Well, the self-titled track on the album "Whatcha You Live For" by Luke Smith is certainly a contender to Wills hit, and even Mark might agree if he heard it. "Whatcha Live For" actually makes you stop and think, the way traditional country music is suppose to, reminiscent of the simple things in life and what we live for.
Country music fans will be impressed with the updated cover of Merle's "The Fighting' Side of Me" which really grabs any listener. It's just one of those performances you have to hear for yourself to believe, so don't be surprised we told you so first. And when Luke walks out on stage without his baseball cap on, he has the stage presence Merle had, you know the one that just commands attention. Some are just born with the gift, and well, others aren't.....that's just the way it is. While listening to the song, any Merle Haggard fan can almost see the Hag smiling down with pride.
Then there's the single "Lead Me Home" that could stop the devil in his tracks, without a doubt. Not to sound rude or boisterous, but if you can't hear the depth of talent and vocals on this single, well you might want to have your ears checked, they do still sell hearing aids these days. Just Saying!!
Luke recently played CMA Fest (Nashville, TN) and was a featured performer at the Watermelon Crawl Festival (Anderson, SC) hosted by well known songwriters The Turner Brothers. Luke is sponsored by and a regular performer on 'Main Street USA' at Coyote Coffee Pickens (Pickens, SC) and on the main stage at Sweet Tokens Bakery (Liberty, SC).
Luke is scheduled as a featured performer at "Party in the Park" at Mineral Springs Park (Williamston, SC) from 6-7pm, Saturday, August 3, 2018. "Party in the Park" is hosted by the City of Williamston. He is also scheduled to perform in "The Wild Wing Voice Off" hosted by Wild Wing Cafe, so ya'll get ready, "the kid" coming on strong!!
